The 4.1 inch AMOLED screen does justice to the vibrant Metro colour schemes, and makes reading emails or playing games a pleasure. The screen has great viewing angles and performs well in a range of lighting conditions, including direct sunlight. The screen is made with Gorilla Glass - a specially toughened glass which is scratch and shatter resistant. With 1GB Flash ROM amd 512MB SDRAM the Dell Venue Pro looks set to be one of the speediest smartphones around. As the only Windows Phone 7 handset to have 1GB ROM (compared with the standard 512MB), this device is a must for anyone wanting a superior gaming experience or super-fast email management. The Dell Venue Pro is available to buy, sim-free here. or on a contract from £20 a month, or with the handset free from £30 a month. The Dell Venue Pro comes with 8GB Micro SD storage, plenty for storing music and video for access on the go. This handset also comes with a 5 megapixel cameral and can record 720p HD video. This phone is perfect for business or leisure use and has a wonderful clean and simple design. Dell have made an excellent first mobile device, with the keyboard reminding me slightly of a Dell PC, and the rest complementing the Metro interface with square corners, and a simple sleek gloss that looks sophisticated and stylish. There is something fitting about the Dell/Windows Phone 7 partnership, as it is new terrain for both parties. Dell have the expertise at working with Microsoft to make great hardware for their PC systems, and have clearly succeeded in transferring these skills to the mobile arena. Dell perhaps have produced the fastest device because of their expertise in PC development, where the required processing speeds have soared - so have made a phone that will lead the way in terms of speed and performance. This phone will only be available on T-Mobile in the US at launch, but hope that it might be coming to the rest of the world soon.

The Dell Lightning from our 'rumoured devices' list seems to have become the Dell Venue Pro, still sporting the slide down qwerty keyboard.
