Windows Phone 7 has always been keen to show off it's potential for gaming, with xBox integration and the XNA framework for games developers. This techincal wizardry however, can also be used for more productive tasks, as the folks at Red Badger have proven. Their Pocket Mechanic prototype uses the XNA framework to make a 3D viewer and manipulator, allowing the user to use the multi touch interface to explore the individual components of a device. Jumi is working but there is nothing to be shown. {/jumi}
Specify the source of the code (first square brackets). This sort of 3D manipulation has only previously been possible at a computer running typically expensive software, but this prototype gives huge opportunities for engineers, architects and any form of 3D designer. Imagine if next time you take your car to the garage they can show you the exact problem on a phone, or an architect can show you their latest design that you can explore from all angles. |
