Blackberry 6 - feature list: Blackberry touch screen and hardware keyboard versionsIntegrated social media, all in one placeAllows messages from Facebook, Twitter and Windows Live to be put into a central inbox alongside instant messages from Blackberry Messenger. Automatic collation of all contact detailsContacts form their own list, although contacts can be synchronised through outlook or similar. Inbuilt music playerBlackberry smart phones running Blackberry 6 will have an inbuilt Media Player for playing back music. Includes shuffle feature. RadioThere will be preinstalled radio app, as well as a choice of radio apps available for download. Camera (with flash)According to the specification there will be a 5 megapixel camera, with flash and zoom. PicturesPhotos are stored according to when taken, so you can assign them to an event if you wish. Multiple email accounts directed to the same inboxAll emails, messages and status updates are collected in the 'Messages' folder. You can however have separate apps to check these individually should you wish. Easy to set up with Outlook, Gmail and webmail accounts. It is possible to have separate apps for each email inbox, or you can check them all in your messages folder. Calendar syncing (Google / Exchange)Can sync with Outlook/Google Calendars. The Blackberry 6 has integrated location services which will allow you to send local information, such as details of a nearby pub or restaurant, or even your location, as a message. This makes arranging events and meet-ups easier. Application multitaskingYou can play music in the background whilst performing other tasks, app multitasking has been possible on Blackberries for a long time. Copy and pasteYes. Non-disruptive new message alertsThe defaults are customisable, but there are also downloads for Blackberry message alert tools allowing you to control exactly what is displayed or not, even filtering out numbers. Flash compatibilityThere is no flash capability expected on the first release, however it seems that Flash compatibility is being developed, and should be released on one of the first few updates. HTML5 compatibilityThe Blackberry 6 is fully supports the HTML5 standard for video playback. There is an included uploader for YouTube. Preview info on the homepageHomepage contains links to messages, maps and folder system, but no preview information. The Blackberry 6 when preinstalled on the new Torch, will have a set of pre-loaded icons which allow them to download and immediately begin using a variety of rich entertainment and social networking applications. Updating/SyncingThe new BlackBerry Desktop Software 6 comes with integrated media sync for syncing music, photos and videos. It also includes a Wi-Fi Music Sync, a unique feature that enables users to view their entire iTunes or Windows Media Player music libraries from their BlackBerry smart phone. They can create and edit playlists as well as select music for download over their home Wi-Fi network. User interfaceBlackberry 6 is a familiar interface for Blackberry users and has not undergone significant changes. The OS speed seems improved, however the low available memory prevents it from being competitively quick. Supports the Blackberry touch interface, but also the hardware keyboard which will continue to be supplied on some models. NavigationBlend of touch screen and optical scroll to navigate. Also supports hardware keyboards. SettingsGlobal 'Settings' menu allows you to change settings for any application. GamesCan download app based games. Marketplace / App StoreBlackberry App World is the official store for your Blackberry apps. You can download the App World app to be able to browse and download apps direct to your phone.
